Robyn Scott, Principal African Investments and AFSIC
Robyn has been involved in the resources and finance sector for 30 years. After graduating in Geophysics and Applied Mathematics from the University of Sydney, Robyn built a technical, commercial and managerial career with BHP Billiton working on numerous exploration and resource expansion programmes throughout Australia, Asia and Africa.
Robyn relocated to Africa to manage Kalahari Diamonds Ltd until the sale of the company to Petra Diamonds. Robyn was appointed as the commercial manager for BHP Billiton Canada to negotiate exploration joint ventures and equity transactions in North America and East Asia. Pursuing her interest in the commercial side of the industry, Robyn returned to Africa to co-manage a private fund investing in global mining and energy projects before joining the African Events team to organise and host the in-country investor missions.
Robyn has significant technical, financial and commercial experience and an extensive network of business connections and operational experience throughout Africa.
Rupert McCammon, Founder of Adventis Limited, Afinitas Limited, Africa Events Limited, Ethiopia Investments Ltd
Rupert McCammon graduated from the Cass Business School, City University London, with a 1st Class (Hons) degree in Banking & International Finance in 1991.
He was responsible for managing the Botswana Stock Exchange, and Botswana’s only stockbroking company in the mid-1990s, at a time when the Botswana Stock Exchange was one of the best performing stock exchanges in the world. He established the Capital Group, a financial services group within Botswana in 1998, and expanded the Group in 2005 to include Capital Resources LLP, a UK registered and FSA regulated entity, focused on Africa’s resource sector.
He has travelled extensively across all parts of Africa, and invested in mining & resource and financial companies operating in over half of Africa’s 54 countries. He founded the Africa Financial Services Investment Conference (AFSIC) in 2013, now in its seventh year and established as the leading investment event focused on Africa.
Leutlwetse Tumelo, Director Afinitas Limited, a Botswana Listed company
Leutlwetse, a citizen of Botswana, holds Accounting qualifications from the University of Botswana and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Leutlwetse has extensive experience in Capital Markets and Resources Sector in Botswana.
He joined Capital Securities in 2003 as an Analyst covering most of the stocks listed on the Botswana Stock Exchange. His primary focus was on the financial, insurance, brewery and resources stocks. In 2006 he was appointed Head of Client Services and Joint CEO of Capital Securities. In this portfolio he managed the sales team responsible for both retail and institutional clients and for positioning Capital Securities as the leading broking firm for resources sector stocks. During this time there was increased participation in the sector by Botswana based investors.
Leutlwetse has been actively involved in promoting Botswana’s resources sector for the past 14 years through his participation in the Botswana Resource Sector Conference. He is now Executive Director of Afinitas Limited, a Botswana listed company focusing on Conferences & Events and investments into Africa.
