Lubambe Copper Mine Limited
Lubambe was opened by the previous owners in 2012 as a 2.5mtpa capacity underground mine with a targeted annual production of +40,000 tpa of copper. These original owners failed to achieve the required production with the mine only producing 18,000 tonnes of copper in 2017.
On joining EMR Capital to lead the turnaround and expansion of the Lubambe Copper Mine, I have been tasked with increasing production, reducing costs and completing a feasibility study on opening a new larger underground mine. As at the end of 2018 production from underground had been increased by 60% and by the end of 2019 the mine will be producing at an annualized rate of 40,000 tpa
